@CairoScene LIVE from Art Cairo 2026 at GEM: The work of Inji Aflatoun, one of Egyptian art history’s most prominent names, displayed at the seventh edition of Art Cairo, is split into two halves: one wall is dark, glum, heavy with black and white canvases, while the other nearly bursts with colour. One wall holds Inji’s work from within the cell, and the other holds work made after her release from Al-Qanatir prison. In a letter to her sister from her prison cell, Aflatoun writes, “I still pain
