I tried to read it first and I got through the first short story before I realized oh shit nothing is being explained to me because it's expecting me to already know these things. There's no world building or character introductions because it's supposed to have already been built in introduced. So I put it down and then picked it back up as the third book and that is how I prefer to read it.
