The Danville Fire Dept. is currently accepting applications for their Citizens Fire Academy which begins in March. We spoke with Deputy Chief Brandyn Smith about what you can expect to experience as part of the academy. Deadline to submit your application is February 10th. This week members of the Danville Fire Dept. technical rescue team have been on the Dan River receiving swift water rescue training. The Virginia Department of Fire Programs has been conducting the technician level classes for firefighters in Danville, Lynchburg and other surrounding jurisdictions.
